Bookweasel's Blog

About BookWeasel

Dear Reader,

I’m the Commercial Operations Manager at a CSU and started this blog when I had a couple of extra Fridays each month to do something different. Since I wasn’t getting paid for those ‘Furlough Fridays’, it needed to be fun and free – extra emphasis on the free.

I chose to start a book blog because i conduct weekly raids on the campus library for the newest 14-day offerings and usually have no one to talk to about them. My blog is mostly about the books I read but also about other topics that manage to ‘weasel’ their way into my written world.

Topics have included books, libraries, dogs, the antics of my teenage social dragonfly, more stuff that I’ve planned carefully and will think of soon, and even some personal stuff that spills over. Send me your favorite books or your personal rating system, and I’ll include you in my posts.

Here is my very casual rating system:
The Mercy Read – TMR
The Picture Tour – TPT
The Half-Way There Read – THWTR
The Technical Read – TTR
The Best Friend Read – TBFR
Multiples, The Best Read – MTBR
Weasels – W (This is where you’ll find all the other stuff that managed to ‘weasel’ it’s way into a book review blog.)

When I began the blog I was in a different place in my life and there have been some fairly large changes. Some of it will spill over so just do your best to stick with me and we’ll see where it leads.

Thanks for dropping by and welcome to my world.

Hi Deb, it’s wonderful to hear from you. Thanks for reading my blog, I appreciate the people who responded. It’s kind of scary to step out of my shell, really leap out, so thank you for your note.

I think niche is pronounced like ‘neeshe’, try saying ‘she’s my niece as if you were pretending to be an old drunk, with a slurring sound. If that’s not right, my friend Fred will provide a correction. He was the movie critic for the Modesto Bee for ages and has grammar on permanent mental rolodex

The Yosemite story was fun to read after all those years, let me see if I can dig it up again and post it. I’ll jump over to Facebook and visit with you some more.

I just read your blog, it’s TERRIFIC! I love your sense of humor, it just tickles me so much, sometimes to the point of tears streaming down my face from laughing so hard. I will be a regular reader of your blog from now on, I’m putting it on my bookmark toolbar for easy access to a fun time. Also, I have to thank you for correcting my grammar, I didn’t know about the “fort” (by the way, how DO you say niche)?

I’d love to have the opportunity to read that Yosemite story again some time, do you think that’s possible?

    My friend,

Out of nothing more than abject curiosity, I took the time to look into your blog-space. I have spent the last half hour or so crying furiously for your loss and then laughing outright at your humor and insight. I have been gently reminded of your soaring spirit and of the depths of emotion you have demonstrated since I have known you.
looking back over the years, I have had the previledge of meeting and getting to know many people. Few I call friends, even fewer I call dear friends. Please know I count you and the “gang” back in CA dear friends. Every so often I get the urge to call someone up and let them know I still exist. I am sorry I do not stay in contact, even with the miracle of the internet.
This is not to say my life here is anything less than perfect. I live in a beautiful, if slightly isolated place. I am married to the best friend and partner I could have ever prayed for and I am happy and content serving God in this place.
I simply wanted you to know how much I enjoyed reading your words. And I wanted you to know how much they touched me.
    God bless
